Jackson Bernard Nato Evans has been appointed as Fiji’s High Commissioner Designate to Papua New Guinea. His commissioning was officiated by His Excellency Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, President of Fiji, who extended his congratulations and best wishes to Evans in his new diplomatic role.
With an impressive military background spanning over 35 years, Evans is poised to bring extensive expertise and leadership to his position. Prior to this appointment, he held the role of Director of Force Development and Strategic Command at the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) since his reappointment in 2011. He also gained international experience serving as the Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion, Fiji Infantry Regiment in Iraq in May 2007.
Evans’ military accomplishments include serving as the Chief Staff Officer for Force Development at the RFMF Headquarters in 2006, and he reached the rank of Colonel in 2008. His dedication has earned him accolades such as the MFO Peacekeeping Medal for his service in Egypt and the Multinational Forces Commanders Command Medal for Exemplary Leadership on two occasions, in 1999 and 2000.
