Etuweni Caucau has been appointed as Fiji’s new Ambassador to Malaysia, a decision confirmed by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka during a media briefing on Tuesday. The Prime Minister noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in the process of completing the necessary documentation and approvals from the Malaysian government.
Caucau was selected for the ambassadorial role after a comprehensive evaluation process conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He brings a wealth of experience to this position, having served in the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) since December 1984, when he graduated from the Officer Cadet School in Portsea and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Fiji Infantry Corps. His military career progressed, leading him to retire in 2007 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, during which he held the position of Director of Human Resources Management.
Following his military service, Caucau transitioned to the corporate sector, serving for seven years as the Manager of Human Resources at the Pacific Fishing Company Limited, the largest fishery operation in Fiji. Currently, he is deeply engaged in his community as the full-time church administrator at the Christian Mission Fellowship International World Harvest Centre Church in Kinoya, recognized as one of the largest churches in the Pacific.
This new appointment signals a step towards enhancing Fiji’s diplomatic relations in the region, opening avenues for collaboration and cultural exchange. As Caucau takes on his role, there is hope that his diverse background will foster stronger ties between Fiji and Malaysia, benefiting both nations.
