Etuweni Caucau, a former member of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, has been appointed as Fiji’s next Ambassador to Malaysia. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced this development to the media on Tuesday, stating that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently waiting for the necessary documentation and approval from the Malaysian government.
Caucau successfully completed the selection process with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was offered the ambassadorial position.
His qualifications include a distinguished military career, starting when he graduated from the Officer Cadet School in Portsea on December 14, 1984. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and assigned as a Platoon Commander within the Fiji Infantry Corps at Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Suva. After retiring from the military in 2007 as a Lieutenant Colonel, where he also served as the Director of Human Resources Management, Caucau transitioned to civilian life, taking on the role of Manager of Human Resources at Fiji’s largest fishing operation, Pacific Fishing Company Limited, for seven years.
Currently, he serves as a full-time church administrator at the Christian Mission Fellowship International World Harvest Centre Church in Kinoya, one of the largest churches in the Pacific.
This appointment not only reflects his extensive experience in leadership and management but also underscores Fiji’s ongoing commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties in the region. With Caucau’s background, he is well-positioned to make positive contributions to Fiji’s representation in Malaysia.
