Neharika Singh, an 18-year-old from Fiji, is making waves as a Teen Parliamentarian in South Australia after recently migrating from Lautoka. She was honored to be one of 30 students selected for the Teen Parliament program, where she proudly represents her roots from Sabeto, Nadi.
Singh has showcased her commitment to mental health awareness through her initiative titled ‘Unfiltered SA,’ which garnered her a $10,000 scholarship. The project aims to provide a platform for young people to openly discuss mental health issues and access necessary resources, reflecting her dedication to creating positive change in her community.
“The Teen Parliament empowers youth to engage in politics and develop leadership skills, and I’m excited to collaborate with other passionate young individuals,” Singh expressed. Her experience includes meeting influential political figures like Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, which she described as inspiring.
Additionally, she served on the advisory group for the Education Minister of South Australia, Blair Boyer, showcasing her growing influence. Singh’s achievements are supported by her family, who have always encouraged her ambitions. She emphasizes the importance of young Fijians being heard, noting that their unique perspectives can significantly contribute to societal progress.
