The government is set to launch a National MSME Database aimed at bolstering support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The initiative, directed by the Ministry, will consolidate all MSME grant programs into a secure online platform designed to capture crucial business information such as size, location, employment levels, sector, and specific challenges faced.

This innovative database is expected to streamline the application process for businesses, particularly those located in rural and maritime regions, ensuring they can easily access grants and receive tailored assistance suited to their needs. The Ministry emphasized that the platform will also enhance coordination among government agencies, development partners, and entities that provide business support.

By establishing a comprehensive data collection system for MSMEs, the government aims to formulate better evidence-based policies and more responsive support programs that are geared towards fostering growth within the sector. Notably, businesses that submitted grant applications prior to this announcement through the previous portal will not need to reapply, facilitating a smoother transition into the new system.

For MSMEs seeking assistance, they can reach out to MSME Fiji through the Helpline at 163 or by emailing support@msme.mcttt.gov.fj. This initiative represents a positive step forward in strengthening the MSME sector which is critical for economic development and job creation.
