The team responsible for the Narcotics Bill is under significant time pressure, with plans to submit the draft legislation to Cabinet and Parliament by April. During a recent public consultation held at the Civic Centre in Labasa, Consultant Biu Matavou informed attendees that they are currently in the final phase of consultations before drafting the law.

Mr. Matavou emphasized that the aim is to create a comprehensive legal framework that addresses drug-related issues more effectively. The team is focused on developing a robust and contemporary law that will serve Fiji for many years to come. This strategic approach aims not only to enhance legal measures regarding narcotics but also to foster a broader understanding and management of drug-related challenges in the nation.

As the deadline approaches, the community is encouraged to participate and contribute to discussions that will shape this vital piece of legislation, reflecting a collaborative effort to better address drug issues in Fiji.
