Fiji’s Musical Spirit Returns: The Epic Homecoming Concert You Can’t Miss!

Prince Charles Park is set to welcome the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. Saliceni Raiwalui, the special administrator of the Nadi Town Council, announced that the finishing touches are being applied to the park in preparation for the event.

Mr. Raiwalui believes that this concert will signal a new direction for events in Nadi. He remarked, “This show will bring a different taste, the sound of the Pacific carrying the spirit of Fiji.” He expressed pride that the event is being held in Nadi, noting that while the organizers will handle most expenses at Prince Charles Park, the council will manage parking, utilizing Koroivolu Park for additional space.

He emphasized the council’s commitment to collaborating with musicians for future events, stating, “We are ready to work with them if there is a plan for the show to be an annual event.”

The concert marks Mr. Veikoso’s return home after 40 years of spreading Pacific music worldwide. He explained that this event represents much more than just a concert. “It’s a celebration of our roots, our culture, and the music that connects us all. For four decades, I have had the privilege of carrying the spirit of Fiji and the Pacific to audiences across the globe. Now, it is time to bring that journey to full circle, back to where it all began,” he said, expressing his excitement about performing alongside artists such as J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi.

Mr. Veikoso highlighted that the celebration would honor not only his homecoming but also the unifying power of music. “This event is a tribute to our shared heritage, and I can’t wait to experience this unforgettable night with all of you,” he added.

A representative from Tourism Fiji expressed enthusiasm for the Homecoming Concert. “We’re thrilled about George Fiji Veikoso’s Home Coming Concert. This event celebrates his incredible talent while also shining a spotlight on Fiji’s vibrant musical scene,” they stated. The spokesperson noted that it presents an excellent opportunity to stimulate the local economy, foster a sense of community, and promote Fiji’s unique attractions to international visitors, emphasizing the importance of events that highlight the nation’s rich culture and warm hospitality.

Tickets for the concert are priced at $79, $99, $350, and $999 for VIP access. Local artist and aviator Big Wilz shared his support: “Yeah, I’ll pay that much to watch Pojie, Josh, and Maoli. I’m thankful that these brothers are bringing their big kahunas to our shores without big business sponsors but by the sweat of their brow. I will pay because I will support Pojie and would like to give him credit for being our flag bearer in the world of music. It’s going to be epic. Be there if you can, just don’t feel bad if you can’t. See you in Nadi.”

The concert is scheduled for September 14-15.
