Fiji’s Musical Legend Returns: George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso’s Homecoming Concert Set to Dazzle Nadi!

Prince Charles Park is set to host the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. Saliceni Raiwalui, the special administrator of Nadi Town Council, confirmed that the final preparations for the park are in progress.

Mr. Raiwalui expressed that this concert is likely to establish a new standard for events in Nadi. “This show will present a unique flavor, capturing the sound of the Pacific and embodying the spirit of Fiji,” he stated. He emphasized the significance of hosting the event in Nadi, adding, “The event organizers will cover all costs at Prince Charles Park, while we will manage the parking space. We intend to utilize Koroivolu Park for additional space.”

He also mentioned the council’s commitment to collaborating with musicians for future events. “We are eager to partner with them if there is potential for the concert to become an annual occurrence,” Mr. Raiwalui said.

The concert marks Mr. Veikoso’s return after 40 years of sharing Pacific music globally. He noted that this homecoming goes beyond a mere concert. “It’s a celebration of our roots, culture, and the music that unites us all. For four decades, I have had the privilege of representing the spirit of Fiji and the Pacific to audiences worldwide,” Mr. Veikoso remarked. “Now, it is time to return to where it all began. I am honored to come home and share the music that has been my life’s dedication, alongside remarkable artists who I consider family: J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi,” he added.

Mr. Veikoso highlighted the importance of celebrating not only his return but also the unifying power of music within communities. “This event is a tribute to our shared heritage, and I eagerly anticipate this unforgettable night with all of you,” he concluded.

A representative from Tourism Fiji stated, “We’re excited about George Fiji Veikoso’s Homecoming Concert. This event not only showcases his remarkable talent but also highlights Fiji’s vibrant music scene.” The spokesperson also mentioned that the concert offers a significant opportunity to boost the local economy, foster community feelings, and showcase Fiji’s unique attributes to international visitors. Events like this contribute to emphasizing the country’s rich culture and warm hospitality.

Ticket prices range from $79 to $999 for VIP access. Local artist and aviator Big Wilz expressed his support for the concert, saying, “Absolutely, I’d pay that much to see Pojie, Josh, and Maoli. I’m grateful that these musicians are bringing their talent to our shores through their hard work rather than large business sponsorships.”

“I will support Pojie and acknowledge him as our flag bearer in the music world. It’s going to be epic. Be there if you can; if not, no worries. See you in Nadi,” he added.

The concert is scheduled for September 14-15.
