Prince Charles Park is set to host the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. Saliceni Raiwalui, the special administrator of Nadi Town Council, announced that final preparations for the event are being completed.
Mr. Raiwalui emphasized that this concert will introduce a new era of events in Nadi. “This show will offer a unique experience, showcasing the sound of the Pacific and the spirit of Fiji,” he stated. He added that while the concert organizers will cover all expenses related to hosting at Prince Charles Park, the council will manage parking, possibly utilizing Koroivolu Park for additional space.
He indicated that the council is eager to collaborate with musicians for future events. “We are ready to partner with them if there’s a plan to make this an annual celebration,” Mr. Raiwalui mentioned.
The concert marks George Veikoso’s homecoming after 40 years of sharing Pacific music around the world. Veikoso described this occasion as more than just a performance. “It’s a celebration of our roots, culture, and the music that unites us all. For four decades, I’ve had the honor of representing Fiji and the Pacific, and now, I’m excited to return and share this journey with some incredible artists, including J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi,” he said.
Veikoso aims to highlight not only his return but also the unifying and uplifting power of music. “This event honors our shared heritage, and I am eager to share an unforgettable night with everyone,” he added.
A representative from Tourism Fiji expressed excitement about the concert, stating, “George Fiji Veikoso’s Homecoming Concert celebrates his remarkable talent while promoting Fiji’s vibrant music scene. It presents an excellent opportunity to boost the local economy, foster community spirit, and showcase Fiji’s unique cultural offerings to international visitors. Events like these are vital for highlighting our rich culture and warm hospitality.”
Ticket prices for the concert range from $79 to $999 for VIP seating. Local artist and aviator Big Wilz shared his enthusiasm, saying, “I’ll gladly pay to see Pojie, Josh, and Maoli perform. I appreciate that these artists are coming here without major sponsorship, relying on their hard work. I support Pojie and commend him for being our ambassador in the music world. It’s going to be an epic event. If you can attend, you should; if not, don’t feel bad. See you in Nadi.”
The concert is scheduled for September 14-15.
