Prince Charles Park is set to host the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. Saliceni Raiwalui, the special administrator for the Nadi Town Council, has confirmed that preparations at the park are nearing completion.
Raiwalui expressed that this concert will introduce a new standard for events in Nadi. He noted, “This show will provide a unique flavor, showcasing the sound of the Pacific while embodying the spirit of Fiji.”
The concert, which marks Mr. Veikoso’s return after four decades of promoting Pacific music globally, holds significant meaning beyond just entertainment. He stated, “It’s a celebration of our roots, our culture, and the music that connects us all. Over the past forty years, I have had the honor of sharing the essence of Fiji and the Pacific with audiences worldwide. Now, I am excited to return home and share the music that has defined my journey, alongside talented artists I consider family: J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi.”
Veikoso emphasized that this event will celebrate the power of music to unite and inspire communities. “This occasion serves as a tribute to our collective heritage, and I eagerly anticipate experiencing this unforgettable night with everyone,” he added.
A representative from Tourism Fiji expressed excitement about the concert, stating, “We’re delighted about George Fiji Veikoso’s Homecoming Concert, which highlights his remarkable talent while also celebrating Fiji’s dynamic musical landscape.” They regard it as a wonderful chance to enhance the local economy, foster community spirit, and promote Fiji’s unique attractions to international guests, reinforcing the nation’s rich culture and warm hospitality.
Ticket prices vary, ranging from $79 to $999 for VIP access. Local artist and aviator Big Wilz shared his enthusiasm, saying, “I’m willing to pay to see Pojie, Josh, and Maoli perform. I appreciate that these artists are bringing their talents to our shores without relying on large corporate sponsors, but rather through their own efforts.”
He expressed support for Veikoso, calling him a representative of Fijian music on the global stage. “It’s going to be epic. If you can make it, I hope to see you in Nadi,” he concluded.
The concert is scheduled for September 14-15.
