Fiji’s Musical Homecoming: George Veikoso Returns to Nadi!

Prince Charles Park is set to host the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month, as confirmed by Nadi Town Council special administrator Saliceni Raiwalui. The concert is expected to introduce a new standard for events in Nadi, according to Raiwalui, who emphasized that the show will offer a unique representation of Pacific culture and music.

“This event is going to be significant for Nadi. We are fortunate to have it here, as the organizers will cover all expenses at Prince Charles Park, while we will manage the parking arrangements, using Koroivolu Park for additional space,” he explained.

Raiwalui also indicated the council’s ongoing commitment to collaborating with musicians for upcoming events. “We are eager to partner with them, especially if this show becomes an annual tradition,” he noted.

The concert marks George Veikoso’s return to his roots after four decades of promoting Pacific music globally. Veikoso described the homecoming as a celebration of heritage, culture, and the music that brings people together. “Over the years, I have had the honor of carrying the essence of Fiji and the Pacific to audiences worldwide. Now, it’s time to bring that journey full circle, back to where it all began. I am excited to perform in my homeland and share the stage with incredible artists like J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi,” he remarked.

Veikoso highlighted the concert’s purpose as a celebration of both his return and the unifying power of music. “This event will honor our shared heritage, and I am looking forward to an unforgettable night with everyone,” he added.

A representative from Tourism Fiji expressed enthusiasm for the concert, stating, “We are excited about George Fiji Veikoso’s Home Coming Concert, which not only celebrates his exceptional talent but also showcases Fiji’s rich musical landscape. This event is a great chance to boost our local economy and promote a sense of community while welcoming international visitors to experience Fiji’s unique cultural offerings.”

Tickets for the concert are priced at $79, $99, $350, and $999 for VIP access. Local musician and aviator Big Wilz shared his excitement for the concert, stating his willingness to pay for the opportunity to watch Veikoso, Josh, and Maoli perform. “I’m grateful that these artists are coming to our shores without major corporate sponsorship, driven by their hard work. I will definitely support Pojie, recognizing him as a key figure in our music scene. This is going to be an epic event, and I hope to see everyone there,” he said.

The concert is scheduled for September 14-15.
