Fiji’s Musical Homecoming: A Night to Remember

Prince Charles Park is set to host the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month, according to Saliceni Raiwalui, the special administrator of Nadi Town Council. He indicated that final preparations for the venue are in progress.

Raiwalui expressed that this concert will introduce a fresh trend for events in Nadi, stating, “This show will bring a different taste, the sound of the Pacific carrying the spirit of Fiji.” He emphasized the significance of the event for the town, noting, “This is going to be big for Nadi. We are privileged that it has been hosted here. They will pay for everything at the Prince Charles Park, but we will only take care of the parking space. We are planning to use Koroivolu Park for additional space.”

Raiwalui confirmed the council’s commitment to collaborating with musicians for future events, saying, “We are ready to work with them if there is a plan for the show to become an annual event.”

The concert marks Mr. Veikoso’s return to Fiji after 40 years of promoting Pacific music internationally. He conveyed that this homecoming represents more than just a performance. “It’s a celebration of our roots, our culture, and the music that connects us all. For four decades, I have had the privilege of carrying the spirit of Fiji and the Pacific to audiences across the globe. Now, it is time to bring that journey full circle, back to where it all began. I am honored to return home and share with you the music that has been my life’s work, alongside some extraordinary artists who I proudly call family: J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi,” he shared.

Veikoso highlighted that the event will honor not only his return but also the unifying power of music to inspire and uplift communities. “This event is a tribute to our shared heritage, and I can’t wait to experience this unforgettable night with all of you,” he added.

A spokesperson from Tourism Fiji expressed excitement for the concert, stating, “We’re thrilled about George Fiji Veikoso’s Home Coming Concert. This event celebrates his incredible talent while also shining a spotlight on Fiji’s vibrant musical scene. It’s a fantastic opportunity to boost our local economy, foster community spirit, and showcase Fiji’s unique offerings to international visitors. Events like this help highlight our rich culture and warm hospitality.”

Ticket prices for the concert range from $79 to $999 for VIP access. Local artist and aviator Big Wilz commented on the pricing, saying, “Yeah, I’ll pay that much to watch Pojie, Josh, and Maoli. I’m thankful that these brothers are bringing their big kahunas to our shores without big business sponsors but through hard work.” He added, “I will pay because I will support Pojie and would like to give him credit for being our flag bearer in the world of music. It’s going to be epic. Be there if you can—just don’t feel bad if you can’t. See you in Nadi.”

The concert is scheduled for September 14-15.
