Fiji’s Musical Homecoming: A Concert to Remember

Prince Charles Park is set to welcome the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. Saliceni Raiwalui, the special administrator of Nadi Town Council, has confirmed that final preparations for the park are in progress.

Mr. Raiwalui emphasized that the concert aims to introduce a new vibe to events in Nadi, stating, “This show will bring a different taste, the sound of the Pacific carrying the spirit of Fiji.” He added that while the organizing team will cover all expenses at Prince Charles Park, the council will manage parking arrangements, including utilizing Koroivolu Park for additional space.

The concert marks Mr. Veikoso’s return home after 40 years of promoting Pacific music globally. He expressed that this homecoming is about more than just a concert. “It’s a celebration of our roots, our culture, and the music that connects us all. For four decades, I have carried the spirit of Fiji and the Pacific to audiences worldwide. Now, it is time to bring that journey full circle, back to where it all began,” Mr. Veikoso noted. He is excited to share the stage with artists he considers family, including J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi.

Mr. Veikoso added that the event is a celebration of not only his return but also the unifying power of music. “This occasion is a tribute to our shared heritage, and I can’t wait to experience this unforgettable night with everyone,” he remarked.

A spokesperson from Tourism Fiji expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We’re thrilled about George Fiji Veikoso’s Homecoming Concert. This event showcases his remarkable talent while also highlighting Fiji’s vibrant music scene.” They emphasized the event’s potential to enhance the local economy, foster community spirit, and promote Fiji’s unique offerings to international visitors.

Ticket prices range from $79 to $999 for VIP access. Local musician and aviator Big Wilz expressed his willingness to purchase a ticket, stating, “I’ll pay that much to watch Pojie, Josh, and Maoli. I appreciate that they are coming here not through large sponsors but by their own efforts.” He praised Mr. Veikoso as a significant figure in the music industry and encouraged others to attend, saying, “It’s going to be epic. Be there if you can; just don’t feel bad if you can’t. See you in Nadi.”

The concert is scheduled for September 14-15.
