Fiji’s Musical Heart Returns: George Veikoso’s Epic Homecoming Concert!

Prince Charles Park is set to host the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. Saliceni Raiwalui, the special administrator of the Nadi Town Council, announced that the final preparations for the park are currently in progress.

Mr. Raiwalui expressed that this event will introduce a new trend for gatherings in Nadi. “This show will offer a different flavor, showcasing the sounds of the Pacific that embody the spirit of Fiji,” he stated. He emphasized the significance of hosting the concert in Nadi, mentioning that while the concert organizers will cover all expenses at Prince Charles Park, the council will manage the parking arrangements and is considering Koroivolu Park for additional space.

He also mentioned that the council is open to collaborating with musicians for future events and expressed enthusiasm about potentially making this concert an annual occurrence.

This concert marks George Veikoso’s return after 40 years of sharing Pacific music worldwide. He has indicated that this homecoming event is more than just a concert. “It’s a celebration of our roots, our culture, and the music that binds us together. For four decades, I’ve had the privilege of carrying the spirit of Fiji and the Pacific to audiences globally,” Mr. Veikoso shared. “Now, it’s time to return to where it all started. I’m excited to present the music that has shaped my life alongside remarkable artists like J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi,” he added.

He noted that the event will not only celebrate his homecoming but will also showcase the unifying power of music. “This event is a tribute to our shared heritage, and I look forward to sharing this unforgettable night with all of you,” he said.

A representative from Tourism Fiji expressed enthusiasm about the concert, stating, “We’re excited about George Fiji Veikoso’s Homecoming Concert. This event highlights his immense talent while also promoting Fiji’s vibrant music scene.” The spokesperson emphasized that it is a great opportunity to bolster the local economy, foster community spirit, and present Fiji’s unique culture to international tourists.

Tickets for the concert are priced at $79, $99, $350, and $999 for VIP access. Local artist and aviator Big Wilz voiced his support, indicating he would gladly pay to see artists like Pojie, Josh, and Maoli perform. “I appreciate that these artists are bringing their talent to our shores without major business backing, relying on their hard work,” he said. “I am supporting Pojie, who has been a representative for our music globally. It’s going to be an epic event. If you can attend, I hope to see you in Nadi.”

The concert is scheduled for September 14-15.
