Prince Charles Park is set to welcome the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. Nadi Town Council’s special administrator, chairperson Saliceni Raiwalui, confirmed that final preparations at the park are in progress.
Mr. Raiwalui stated that this event will introduce a fresh experience for Nadi, emphasizing its significance. “This show will bring a different taste, the sound of the Pacific carrying the spirit of Fiji,” he remarked. He added, “This is going to be big for Nadi. We are privileged that it has been hosted here. They will pay for everything at Prince Charles Park, but we will only manage the parking space. We plan to utilize Koroivolu Park for additional space.”
He indicated that the council is eager to collaborate with musicians for future events. “We are ready to work with them if there is a plan for the show to become an annual event,” Mr. Raiwalui noted.
The concert marks Mr. Veikoso’s return home after 40 years of sharing Pacific music globally. He expressed that this homecoming is not merely a concert but a celebration of roots, culture, and connecting music. “For four decades, I have had the privilege of carrying the spirit of Fiji and the Pacific to audiences worldwide,” Mr. Veikoso stated. “Now, it is time to bring that journey full circle, back to where it all began. I am honored to return home and share the music that has defined my life, along with extraordinary artists like J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi.”
He emphasized that the event would celebrate not just his return, but also the unifying power of music to inspire and uplift communities. “This event is a tribute to our shared heritage, and I can’t wait to experience this unforgettable night with all of you,” he added.
A spokesperson from Tourism Fiji expressed excitement about the concert, stating, “We’re thrilled about George Fiji Veikoso’s Home Coming Concert. This event celebrates his incredible talent while shining a light on Fiji’s vibrant musical scene. It’s a fantastic opportunity to boost our local economy, foster community spirit, and showcase Fiji’s unique offerings to international visitors. Events like this highlight our rich culture and warm hospitality.”
Tickets for the concert are priced at $79, $99, $350, and $999 for VIP access. Local artist and aviator Big Wilz expressed support for the event, saying, “Yeah, I’ll pay that much to watch Pojie, Josh, and Maoli. I appreciate that these brothers are coming to our shores without big business sponsors, driven by their passion.”
He added, “I will pay because I support Pojie and want to credit him for being our flag bearer in the world of music. It’s going to be epic. Be there if you can, just don’t feel bad if you can’t. See you in Nadi.”
The concert is scheduled for September 14-15.
