Prince Charles Park is set to host the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. Saliceni Raiwalui, the special administrator for Nadi Town Council, confirmed that final preparations for the event are underway.
Mr. Raiwalui expressed that the concert would establish a new benchmark for events in Nadi. “This show will bring a different taste, the sound of the Pacific carrying the spirit of Fiji,” he stated. He added that while the event organizers will cover all expenses at Prince Charles Park, the council will manage the parking arrangements and is considering using Koroivolu Park for additional space.
The concert marks George Veikoso’s return home after 40 years of sharing Pacific music worldwide. He emphasized that this homecoming is more than just a concert, describing it as a celebration of their roots, culture, and the music that unites them. “For four decades, I have had the privilege of carrying the spirit of Fiji and the Pacific to audiences across the globe,” Mr. Veikoso remarked. “Now, it is time to bring that journey full circle, back to where it all began. I am honored to return home and share my life’s work alongside extraordinary artists like J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi,” he stated.
The concert will also highlight the unifying power of music, with Mr. Veikoso noting, “This event is a tribute to our shared heritage, and I can’t wait to experience this unforgettable night with all of you.”
A representative from Tourism Fiji expressed excitement about the concert, stating, “We’re thrilled about George Fiji Veikoso’s Homecoming Concert. This event celebrates his incredible talent while also highlighting Fiji’s vibrant musical scene. It’s a great opportunity to stimulate our local economy, foster community spirit, and showcase Fiji’s unique offerings to international visitors.”
Ticket prices range from $79 to $999 for VIP access. Local artist Big Wilz shared his enthusiasm for the event, saying, “Yeah, I’ll pay that much to watch Pojie, Josh, and Maoli. I’m thankful that these artists are bringing their talent to our shores without major business sponsors but through their hard work. I will support Pojie for being our flag bearer in the music world. It’s going to be epic. Be there if you can, but don’t feel bad if you can’t. See you in Nadi.”
The concert will take place on September 14 and 15.
