Prince Charles Park is set to welcome the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. Saliceni Raiwalui, the special administrator for Nadi Town Council, announced that final preparations for the park are in progress.
Raiwalui noted that the concert aims to introduce a fresh perspective on events in Nadi. “This show will bring a unique flavor, capturing the essence of the Pacific and the spirit of Fiji,” he remarked.
“This event will be significant for Nadi. We are fortunate to host it here, with the organizers covering all expenses at Prince Charles Park, while we will manage the parking arrangements, likely utilizing Koroivolu Park for additional space.”
He also expressed the council’s commitment to collaborating with musicians for future events. “We are eager to work with them if there’s a plan to make this an annual occasion,” he added.
The concert marks George Veikoso’s return to his roots after 40 years of promoting Pacific music globally. He emphasized that this homecoming is more than just a concert.
“It’s a celebration of our heritage, culture, and the music that brings us together. For four decades, I have been honored to represent Fiji and the Pacific to audiences worldwide,” Veikoso shared. “Now, I feel it’s time to bring that journey full circle, back to where it all started. I’m excited to share the music that has been my life’s passion alongside incredible artists like J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi, whom I consider family.”
Veikoso highlighted the event’s significance as a celebration of not only his return but also the unifying power of music. “This gathering pays tribute to our shared heritage. I eagerly anticipate experiencing this unforgettable night with all of you,” he added.
A representative from Tourism Fiji expressed enthusiasm for the concert. “We’re excited about George Fiji Veikoso’s Homecoming Concert, which not only celebrates his extraordinary talent but also showcases Fiji’s vibrant musical landscape,” the spokesperson stated. “This is a great opportunity to enhance our local economy, foster a sense of community, and present Fiji’s unique attractions to international visitors. Events like this are vital in promoting our rich culture and warm hospitality.”
Ticket prices for the concert range from $79 to $999 for VIP access. Local artist and aviator Big Wilz shared his thoughts, saying, “I’d gladly pay that amount to see Pojie, Josh, and Maoli perform. I’m grateful that these artists are bringing their talents to our shores through their hard work rather than relying on major sponsors.”
“I will support Pojie as he represents us in the music world. It’s going to be an epic event. I hope to see you in Nadi, but don’t worry if you can’t make it,” he added.
The concert is scheduled for September 14 and 15.
