Fiji’s Music Legacy: George Veikoso’s Epic Homecoming Concert!

Prince Charles Park is set to host the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. The special administrator of Nadi Town Council, Saliceni Raiwalui, announced that preparations at the park are nearing completion.

Raiwalui expressed that this concert would introduce a new style of events in Nadi, highlighting the unique sounds of the Pacific and the spirit of Fiji. “This show will bring a different taste,” he remarked. He also mentioned that while the concert organizers will cover all expenses at Prince Charles Park, the council will manage the parking facilities, utilizing Koroivolu Park for additional space.

The homecoming concert marks Mr. Veikoso’s return to Fiji after 40 years of sharing Pacific music worldwide. He stated that this occasion represents more than just a concert, but a celebration of cultural roots and community connections through music. “For four decades, I have had the privilege of carrying the spirit of Fiji and the Pacific to audiences across the globe. Now it is time to bring that journey full circle, back to where it all began,” Veikoso noted. He looks forward to performing alongside notable artists such as J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi, emphasizing the concert as a tribute to their shared heritage.

A representative from Tourism Fiji expressed excitement about the event, highlighting it as a chance to showcase Veikoso’s talent and promote Fiji’s lively music scene. “This is a wonderful opportunity to enhance our local economy and celebrate our rich culture,” they said.

Ticket prices range from $79 to $999 for VIP packages. Local artist Big Wilz shared his enthusiasm, stating he would happily pay to see the performances of Pojie, Josh, and Maoli. He expressed gratitude for their dedication to bringing their talents to Fiji without large corporate sponsorship, highlighting Veikoso as a significant figure in Pacific music.

The concert is scheduled for September 14 and 15.
