Fiji’s Music Icon Returns: The Concert You Can’t Miss!

Prince Charles Park is set to host the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. Saliceni Raiwalui, the special administrator for the Nadi Town Council, has confirmed that the final preparations for the park are underway.

Mr. Raiwalui stated that this concert will introduce a new trend for events in Nadi, saying, “This show will bring a different taste, the sound of the Pacific carrying the spirit of Fiji.” He emphasized the significance of hosting the concert in Nadi, noting, “This is going to be big for Nadi. We are privileged that it has been hosted here. They will cover all expenses at Prince Charles Park, but we will manage the parking space. We are planning to use Koroivolu Park for additional space.”

He also mentioned that the council is eager to collaborate with musicians for future events, expressing a commitment to working with them if plans emerge for the show to become an annual occurrence.

This concert marks Mr. Veikoso’s return home after 40 years of promoting Pacific music worldwide. He has described the homecoming as more than just a concert, highlighting, “It’s a celebration of our roots, our culture, and the music that connects us all. For four decades, I have had the privilege of carrying the spirit of Fiji and the Pacific to audiences across the globe. Now, it is time to bring that journey full circle, back to where it all began.”

Mr. Veikoso expressed his excitement in returning home to share his musical journey alongside notable artists, including J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi. He emphasized the event’s significance in celebrating not only his return but also the power of music to unite and inspire communities.

A representative from Tourism Fiji expressed enthusiasm about the concert, stating, “We’re thrilled about George Fiji Veikoso’s Homecoming Concert. This event celebrates his incredible talent while also showcasing Fiji’s vibrant musical scene.” They highlighted the concert as a fantastic opportunity to boost the local economy, foster community spirit, and promote Fiji’s unique offerings to international visitors.

Ticket prices for the concert range from $79 to $999 for VIP access. Local artist and aviator Big Wilz shared his excitement, saying, “I’ll pay that much to watch Pojie, Josh, and Maoli. I’m thankful that these artists are coming here without big business sponsors, solely through their hard work.” He encouraged attendance, adding, “Just don’t feel bad if you can’t make it. See you in Nadi.”

The concert is scheduled for September 14-15.
