The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) is proactively addressing serious concerns surrounding extra-marital affairs among its peacekeepers deployed in the Middle East. Major-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai recently articulated a decisive zero-tolerance policy against such behavior during the Commander RFMF Parade at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks. He emphasized that any incidents reported to the RFMF headquarters would be addressed firmly. Major-General Kalouniwai urged soldiers to engage in open discussions with their spouses and prioritize family responsibilities to mitigate disruptions caused by infidelity.
Additionally, he shed light on the issue of wrongful termination within the RFMF. Kalouniwai pointed out that certain senior officers have not followed proper dismissal protocols, resulting in considerable compensation costs for the military. He stressed the necessity for strict adherence to dismissal procedures to uphold discipline and alleviate financial strains on the organization.
In the face of these challenges, Kalouniwai reassured that the RFMF remains committed to national security and the welfare of all Fijians. His leadership highlights an ongoing effort to foster a respectful and accountable military environment, reinforcing the importance of ethical standards while also enhancing family accountability and transparency.
These proactive initiatives reflect a hopeful trajectory for the RFMF, as it seeks to improve the personal lives of its members while also reinforcing the integrity of the military force. This commitment not only aims to address current issues but also aspires to create a stronger, more united military community in Fiji.
