The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) has announced a call for bids to undertake a comprehensive Job Evaluation Exercise (JEE) as part of its broader organizational transformation initiative. This initiative is aligned with the RFMF’s Beyond 2022 strategic vision, which aims to fortify institutional capacity, modernize workforce systems, and enhance overall readiness in various essential areas, including territorial defense, peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR), as well as national security operations.
Tender documents reveal that the RFMF is seeking to modernize its human resource governance to ensure that its structures and personnel frameworks remain effective and relevant. Many job roles and descriptions within the organization have shifted organically over time, adapting to evolving operational needs and emerging capability requirements.
The forthcoming Job Evaluation Exercise will involve a thorough review and analysis of all established civilian and military positions within the RFMF. The objective is to create a fair, updated, and evidence-based remuneration framework that aligns with international standards, adheres to Fiji’s Public Service job evaluation guidelines, and considers the unique operational context of a military environment.
To achieve this, the RFMF plans to hire a consultancy or service provider with demonstrated expertise in organizational design, job evaluation methodologies, and extensive workforce assessments. The selected contractor will be responsible for delivering comprehensive recommendations that will aid the RFMF in establishing a sustainable job evaluation system and guiding the implementation process throughout the organization’s modernization efforts.
This transformative move reflects Fiji’s commitment to maintaining an effective military force capable of adapting to contemporary challenges while ensuring a structured and fair approach to personnel management.
