The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) recently held a passing-out parade for Batch 1/25 at the Force Training Ground in Nasinu, where Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai emphasized the vital importance of maintaining political neutrality and professional ethics. Addressing the 141 graduating recruits, Maj-Gen Kalouniwai urged them to embody the highest standards of conduct, underlining their duty to protect democracy while ensuring that every citizen’s rights are respected regardless of their background.

In his address, Kalouniwai highlighted that the legacy of a soldier is defined by their commitment to ethical service, asserting that the RFMF stands as a force for good not just in Fiji, but also on the global stage. He encouraged the recruits to remain impartial and dedicated to serving all citizens equally, reinforcing the message that their actions and choices will significantly shape their military careers.

This event follows similar sentiments expressed recently by Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua, who during a prior graduation ceremony, noted that the strength of the RFMF lies not in its military might, but in its unwavering dedication to civil authority and community service. Tikoduadua echoed the importance of upholding democratic principles, reminding recruits that their choices today will determine their future roles, whether as commanding officers or community leaders.

The focus on ethical conduct and service reflects a positive outlook for the new generation of military leaders. As these recruits embark on their paths, they are equipped not only with military skills but with a strong sense of responsibility to foster a just and democratic society in Fiji.

This emphasis on ethical leadership within the military is a hopeful sign for the future, suggesting that the RFMF is committed to nurturing a generation of leaders who will prioritize service and integrity in their endeavors.
