The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) is set to resume its Phase 2 of the reconciliation and restoration program early next year, focusing on community engagement and outreach. This initiative aims to foster reconciliation in communities that have experienced the impacts of past coups.

RFMF Commander Major-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai emphasized the significance of this phase, as it presents an opportunity for the military institution to rebuild trust with the Fijian people. He stated, “Phase 2 will be very important for RFMF since we will be visiting communities, listening to their survival stories, and conducting institutional reconciliation.” This outreach aims not only to address past grievances but also to genuinely connect with the communities and acknowledge their experiences.

Major-General Kalouniwai articulated that this phase will serve as a crucial time for healing and allowing the RFMF to seek sincere apologies from the communities. The emphasis on understanding and dialogue marks a positive step towards mending relationships and creating a more united Fiji.

This initiative reflects a hopeful outlook for the future, as it seeks to foster healing and build a deeper understanding between the RFMF and the citizens it serves. By prioritizing community input and engagement, it opens the door for a more collaborative and trusting environment.

In summary, the RFMF’s Phase 2 reconciliation program aims to strengthen bonds with affected communities through open dialogue and acknowledgment of experiences, promoting healing and trust within Fiji.
