The President of the Methodist Church of Fiji, Reverend Dr. Semisi Turagavou, has urged the Church to break free from its long-held conservative approaches. During the opening of the Methodist Church Conference, also known as the ‘Bose Ko Viti’, he emphasized the need for a change in mindsets and attitudes as the Church moves forward under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Reverend Turagavou stated that if the Church is hesitant to evolve, God will seek out others to elevate it to new heights. He pointed out that divine progress does not require human approval and will be achieved through those who align themselves with Christ to restore His true image within the Church.
The Church President challenged attendees to step beyond their comfort zones, urging all members and delegates to take initiative in mission work. He highlighted the importance of relationships in faith, reflecting on the belief in a relational God.
“God is calling on the Church to break boundaries and step out of our comfort zones. He encourages us to be relational and welcoming, as we are all covered by the precious blood of Jesus,” he concluded.
