Fiji’s Methodist Church Marks 60 Years of Independence with Key Leadership Moves

The Methodist Church of Fiji is commemorating its 60th year of independence from Australia. The annual conference, referred to as ‘Bose ko Viti’, is currently taking place at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

During a media briefing, MCF General Secretary Reverend Dr. Jolame Lawasa noted significant appointments made at the conference. Delegates have reappointed Reverend Dr. Semisi Turagavou as President for another year, while Reverend Dr. Anil Reuben continues as General Secretary, with the two reaffirmed in their roles.

Reverend Lawasa mentioned that Vice President Joji Qaranivalu is concluding his three-year term this year and that Jone Vuto has been elected as the Incoming Vice-President, set to take office in 2025.

He also emphasized that the Methodist Church aims to enhance its mission in Fiji, with plans to establish a TV and radio station as one of its goals. The conference is set to continue throughout the week.
