Fiji’s Methodist Church Marks 60 Years of Independence with Key Appointments and New Goals

The Methodist Church of Fiji is commemorating its 60th anniversary of independence from Australia. The annual conference, referred to as ‘Bose ko Viti,’ is currently taking place at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

In a media briefing, MCF General Secretary Reverend Dr. Jolame Lawasa announced several key appointments that were made yesterday. Delegates have reappointed Reverend Dr. Semisi Turagavou as President for another year, with Reverend Dr. Lawasa and Reverend Dr. Anil Reuben continuing as General Secretary and Deputy General Secretary, respectively.

Reverend Lawasa also noted that Vice President Joji Qaranivalu is concluding his three-year term this year, and Jone Vuto has been elected to serve as the Incoming Vice-President starting in 2025.

This year, the Methodist Church aims to enhance its mission in Fiji, with plans to establish a TV and radio station as one of its primary objectives. The week-long conference is ongoing.
