The Fiji men’s 7s rugby team has made an impressive start in the HSBC 7s series, currently leading the standings after a triumphant victory at the Dubai 7s tournament. Under the guidance of coach Osea Kolinisau, Fiji clinched the title by defeating Spain 19-5 in the final match. This victory marks a significant achievement for the team, as they sit at the top of the standings with 20 points, signaling a strong comeback after a two-year winless streak over 22 tournaments.

Spain follows closely in second place with 18 points, while Argentina, New Zealand, and France round out the top five. On the lower end of the standings, the USA is currently in last place.

In the women’s division, the Fijiana team is ranked 12th, having earned just one point from a 10th-place finish in Dubai. The top three teams in this division are Australia, New Zealand, and France.

Looking ahead, both the men’s and women’s teams will be aiming to improve their standings at the upcoming Cape Town 7s tournament this weekend, presenting an opportunity for growth and further success.

Fiji’s resurgence in the men’s 7s ranking is a cause for optimism among fans and supporters. This renewed confidence could pave the way for sustained success in the upcoming tournaments. With competition heating up, the stage is set for an exciting season of rugby.
