Team Fiji is currently ranked eighth on the medal tally at the Palau Mini Games, with the competition entering its second day. As of now, the team has secured 3 silver and 3 bronze medals.

The silver medals came from outstanding performances, including one from Kelera Mudunasoko, the flag bearer for the opening ceremony, who excelled in the women’s 200m breaststroke. The men’s 4x100m freestyle relay also clinched a silver, along with Elenoa Vateitei in the Va’a V1 500m event.

Fiji’s bronze medals were earned by Hansel McCaig in the men’s 50m backstroke and Raymond Rusivakula in the Va’a V1 men 500m. Additionally, the men’s Va’a V12 team claimed a bronze as well.

Looking ahead, today’s events will feature competitions in swimming, Va’a, archery, basketball, and baseball.

Currently, Tahiti leads the medal race with an impressive tally of 9 gold, 7 silver, and 2 bronze medals, followed by the Marshall Islands in second place with 3 gold and 1 silver, and Samoa in third with 3 golds and 1 silver.

This performance already highlights Fiji’s potential in various sports and serves as an opportunity for the athletes to gain valuable experience on an international stage. The hope is that they can continue to build momentum as the competition unfolds, embodying the spirit of pride and excellence that characterizes Fijian sports on the global scene.
