Fiji’s Manshika Prasad to Shine at Miss Universe 2024

Manshika Prasad, a 24-year-old from Nausori, will represent Fiji at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico this November. The native of Lakena, currently studying for a Master’s in Business Administration in Australia, was chosen from nine other finalists during a glamorous crowning ceremony at the Pearl South Pacific Resort in Pacific Harbour on Friday night.

Manshika, who completed her primary and secondary education at Saraswati Primary School and Bhawani Dayal Arya College, has a strong commitment to advocating against domestic violence. She expressed that the cause is particularly significant to her due to the profound effects she has observed it has on individuals and families. She stated, “I don’t seek this title for the glitz, glamour, or personal gain. Instead, I aim to use the Miss Universe platform to amplify the voices of those silenced by fear and violence.” Her mission is to raise awareness and inspire change, striving to create a safer and more supportive environment for women.

The Miss Universe Fiji event marked the country’s long-awaited return to the Miss Universe stage after a 43-year absence. The finalists showcased their poise and elegance in stunning fashion displays, competing in various categories. The event was hosted by Tracey Ann Farrington, who also served as the official MC, along with judge Raj Suri, who managed voiceovers and the award presentations.

The 2024 Miss Universe Fiji crown was awarded by Grant Dwyer, the Marketing, Events & Sponsorship Director. Co-runners up included 23-year-old Susan Ranadi and 30-year-old Nadine Roberts. The judging panel featured notable figures, including Miss Universe Fiji National Director Paris Jade and Jennifer Chan, a USA On-Air TV Host and Style Expert.

Awards presented during the event included various category titles, with Manshika Prasad winning the Miss Swimwear title. Other notable awards included Miss Congeniality, Best Smile, Best Catwalk, Miss Fitness, and more.
