Fiji’s Lessons: A Path to Global Harmony?

Indian President Droupadi Murmu expressed that “the rest of the world has so much to learn from Fiji.”

During her address to Parliament on Tuesday, she highlighted the unique aspects of Fijian life, noting the profound respect for traditions and customs, as well as its open and multicultural environment, which make Fiji stand out in a world increasingly rife with conflict.

She remarked, “No wonder, Fiji is the place where the rest of the world comes to find its happiness.”

President Murmu emphasized Fiji’s growing role in addressing significant global challenges, particularly climate change and human conflicts. She praised Fiji for shaping the global discussion on climate issues and representing the concerns of Ocean-States, acknowledging its substantial contributions to global welfare.

Furthermore, she commended Fiji’s involvement in international peacekeeping missions in some of the most dangerous conflict zones around the globe, stating, “We salute Fiji’s contribution in making the world a better place to live.”

The President concluded her statement following a two-day State visit to Fiji, which included a stop at the Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple in Nadi.
