Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced a forthcoming reshuffle of ministerial portfolios, emphasizing the government’s commitment to greater efficiency and fairness. He expressed concerns regarding the current distribution of responsibilities among ministers, stating he has spent late nights reviewing files, a situation he perceives as unfair to both the citizens of Fiji and civil servants who depend on capable leadership.

Currently, Pio Tikoduadua serves as the Minister for Home Affairs, overseeing the Army, while Rabuka himself manages the Police Force and Immigration. The Prime Minister confirmed that Tikoduadua has temporarily stepped aside to avoid any conflicts during an ongoing investigation regarding the potential unauthorized issuance of passports to children associated with the Grace Road human rights allegations. It is noted that Tikoduadua is not under investigation for any drug-related offenses.

In light of these developments, Tikoduadua has assured the public of his full cooperation with the investigation, aiming to restore trust that may have been affected.

This reshuffle not only showcases the Prime Minister’s proactive approach but also reflects an intention to maintain integrity within the governmental framework. It serves as a reminder of the importance of accountability in leadership roles.

As Fiji navigates these challenges, there remains a hopeful outlook that these measures will lead to enhanced governance and a stronger public trust in government operations.
