The Public Service Commission has officially appointed Amenatave Yauvoli as the Acting Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service and Public Enterprises, with the consent of the Prime Minister. Yauvoli is returning from Indonesia, where he served as Fiji’s Ambassador for the past four years.
His extensive background includes previous roles as the Permanent Secretary for Commerce, Trade and Investment, and Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs. With a double Master’s Degree with honors in development economics from the University of Wollongong in Australia, Yauvoli brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new position.
His career has also included significant contributions in environmental and climate change sectors across the Pacific, including stints in Samoa, Pohnpei, and Vanuatu.
Luke Rokovada, Chair of the Public Service Commission, indicated that the current Permanent Secretary for Civil Service and Public Enterprises, Parmesh Chand, will remain in his position until his transition to the Diplomatic Service is finalized.
This appointment reflects the ongoing process of strengthening Fiji’s leadership within the Civil Service, which has seen other Permanent Secretaries reappointed recently due to their successful track records and deep understanding of their roles. The Public Service Commission’s continual efforts to attract and retain skilled professionals are vital for driving growth and development in Fiji. This represents a hopeful sign for the trajectory of public governance in the country.
