The Public Service Commission, with the Prime Minister’s agreement, has announced the reappointment of six Permanent Secretaries following a thorough recruitment process. Chairperson Luke Rokovada stated that these leaders will guide their respective ministries into the next phase of growth and development.

Rokovada emphasized that the decision to reappoint these individuals stemmed from an extensive recruitment process, during which the Commission identified the six Permanent Secretaries as the most suitable candidates to continue leading their ministries. Their deep understanding of the departments, proven success, and strong vision for the future were key factors in the Commission’s decision.

The reappointments include Pita Tagicakirewa as Permanent Secretary for I-Taukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage, and Arts until November 2025; Seema Sharma as Permanent Secretary for Local Government until December 2025; Yogesh Karan as Permanent Secretary for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry until December 2025; Shaheen Ali as Permanent Secretary for Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications until December 2025; and Susan Kiran, who will serve as Secretary to Cabinet until June 2026 and will also take on the role of Permanent Secretary for Information starting September 2, 2024.

Dr. Raijeli Taga has been reappointed as Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources until her transfer to a new ministry in October 2024.

Rokovada remarked that the reappointment of all Fijian nationals highlights the growing talent pool in Fiji and the Civil Service’s ability to attract and retain high-caliber professionals.
