“Fiji’s Leadership Reinforced: Six Permanent Secretaries Reappointed for Future Growth”

The Public Service Commission, in agreement with the Prime Minister, has announced the reappointment of six Permanent Secretaries to guide their respective ministries in the upcoming phase of growth and development.

Chairman of the PSC, Luke Rokovada, indicated that this decision followed a comprehensive recruitment process. The Commission determined that these officials are best equipped to lead their ministries due to their extensive knowledge, proven success, and forward-looking vision.

Pita Tagicakirewa will continue as Permanent Secretary for I-Taukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage, and Arts until November 2025. Seema Sharma has been reappointed as Permanent Secretary for Local Government through December 2025. Yogesh Karan will remain as Permanent Secretary for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry until December 2025, while Shaheen Ali will serve as Permanent Secretary for Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises and Communications until December 2025.

Susan Kiran is reappointed as Secretary to the Cabinet until June 2026 and will also take on the role of Permanent Secretary for Information beginning September 2, 2024. Dr. Raijeli Taga has been reappointed as Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, with plans for her reassignment to a new Ministry in October 2024.

Chairman Rokovada emphasized that all appointed Permanent Secretaries are Fijian nationals, highlighting the growth of local talent and the Civil Service’s effectiveness in attracting and retaining highly skilled individuals.
