The Digicel Fiji Junior Kulas are excited for their opening match in the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship, set to take place this Sunday at Suva’s HFC Bank Stadium. With the tournament approaching, Head Coach Marika Rodu expressed confidence in the team’s readiness.
Rodu stated, “The preparation is well underway, and we’re in our final week, keeping focused. The girls are in good shape and eager for our opening match against Tonga.” He acknowledged the challenges that come with a first match, particularly against a team like Tonga, which is recognized for its solid defensive play.
“The first match is always tough, but our goal is to start strong and settle into the game quickly,” he said. Rodu noted that Tonga’s defensive strategy could make it challenging for Fiji to find the net, but he remains optimistic about their game plan.
“We’ve been working on strategies to break their defense and secure those crucial three points on Sunday,” he added. The match between Fiji and Tonga is scheduled to commence at 3 pm this Sunday.
