The Fiji Junior Kulas are preparing for the OFC Under-16 Women’s Championship, which begins on Sunday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Head coach Marika Rodu has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness as they approach the final week of preparation.
“The preparation is well underway, and we are entering the final stages. The girls are in good condition and getting ready for our first match against Tonga,” Rodu commented to Fiji FA Media. He expects their opening match to be tough, as the first game is often the most challenging.
“We don’t expect the match against Tonga to be an easy one; the first match is always difficult. However, the goal is to settle in and start playing right away,” he explained. Rodu noted that Tonga is likely to adopt a defensive strategy, utilizing a low block, which could pose challenges for Fiji in breaking through their defense.
Nonetheless, he remains optimistic about the Junior Kulas’ prospects, asserting, “We will address that and aim to secure the three points on Sunday.” The match is scheduled to kick off at 3 PM.
