Fiji’s Junior Kulas Gear Up for Thrilling OFC Championship Opener!

The Fiji Junior Kulas are preparing for the OFC Under-16 Women’s Championship, which begins on Sunday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Head coach Marika Rodu has shown confidence in the team’s readiness as they enter the final week of preparations.

“The preparation is progressing well, and we are in our last week of training, aiming to maintain focus. The girls are in good shape and gearing up for our opening match against Tonga,” Rodu shared with Fiji FA Media.

Rodu expects a tough start against Tonga, recognizing that the first match is typically the most challenging. “We don’t anticipate an easy game against Tonga because the first match is always difficult, but the key is to calm ourselves and get into the game quickly,” he explained.

The coach noted Tonga’s defensive strategy, pointing out their tendency to establish a low defensive block, which could pose difficulties for Fiji in finding ways to score.

Nonetheless, Rodu remains optimistic about the Junior Kulas’ prospects, stating, “We will analyze their tactics and aim to secure three points on Sunday.”

The match is scheduled to kick off at 3 PM.
