The Fiji Junior Kulas are preparing to compete in the OFC Under-16 Women’s Championship, which begins this Sunday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Head coach Marika Rodu has expressed confidence as the team approaches the final stages of their preparations.
“The preparation is well underway, and we are nearing the end of our training week. The girls are in good condition and are ready for our first match against Tonga,” Rodu stated.
He anticipates a tough opening match against Tonga, recognizing that the first game can often present significant challenges. “We don’t expect the match against Tonga to be an easy one because the first match is always difficult, but we aim to settle down and get straight into the game,” he added.
Rodu pointed out Tonga’s defensive style, noting their tendency to employ a low defensive block, which could pose difficulties for Fiji. However, he remains hopeful about the Junior Kulas’ prospects, asserting, “We will look into that and aim to secure the three points on Sunday.”
The match is scheduled to kick off at 3 PM.
