Fiji’s Jobs for Nature Program Shuts Down: What This Means for the Future

The Ministry of Finance, Strategic Planning, National Development, and Statistics has officially announced the immediate closure of Round 4 of the Jobs for Nature (JFN) 2.0 Program. This initiative is part of the World Bank-funded Fiji Social Protection COVID-19 Response and System Development Project, which aims to create employment opportunities focused on environmental sustainability while enhancing community resilience.

The Ministry explained that the delays in processing applications can be attributed to a high volume of submissions in previous rounds, coupled with the program’s scheduled closure in July 2025. To improve efficiency, efforts have been initiated to streamline payments and services for those approved.

For stakeholders seeking more details on the closure or needing assistance, they can reach out to the following officials:

The Ministry expressed appreciation to all participating entities for their contributions and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering environmental resilience and job opportunities throughout Fiji.

The closure of this program marks a key phase in strengthening community support through nature-based employment while reinforcing the importance of sustainable practices.
