Fiji Water Flying Fijians winger Jiuta Wainiqolo set a new record for defenders beaten in a single match by overcoming 19 defenders during his team’s 30-17 victory over Montpellier this past weekend. This accomplishment is recognized across the four major rugby competitions: Top 14, Super Rugby, URC, and Premiership, according to data from Opta and RugbyPass.

The 25-year-old, who is also an Olympic 7s gold medallist, recorded a total of 155 meters in the game, making 10 carries and achieving 2 clean line breaks. Wainiqolo capped off the match with an impressive solo effort from the halfway line, collecting a loose ball and evading six opponents to score in Round 7 of the French Top 14.

In other matches, fellow Olympic gold medalist and utility back Sireli Maqala scored a try for his Bayonne club in their 32-15 victory over Josua Tuisova’s Racing 92. Additionally, Fijian player Adrea Cocagi received a red card for a high elbow during Castres’ 35-13 win against Stade Francais, who are currently struggling in the league.
