The Insurance Association of Fiji has announced a significant partnership with the Fiji Sun, which will serve as its official print media partner for the inaugural 2025 Annual Awards Gala. This collaboration was formalized on Tuesday in Suva and marks an important milestone for both organizations.
Scheduled to take place on August 16 at the Grand Pacific Hotel, the black-tie gala will celebrate notable achievements within Fiji’s insurance industry. Avi Raju, the chairman of the Insurance Association, emphasized that this partnership is intended to enhance public awareness about insurance in Fiji. He expressed concern over the low penetration of insurance products among Fijians, noting that many people realize their lack of coverage only after experiencing a disaster.
The Insurance Association is taking proactive steps to increase insurance awareness, particularly through a nationwide competition inviting primary and secondary school students to design a logo for the organization. This “IAF National Logo Competition” aims to engage youth in understanding the importance of insurance while also allowing them to showcase their creativity. The winning logos will feature prominently at the awards gala.
Rosi Doviverata, Acting Publisher/CEO of Fiji Sun, highlighted the partnership as a commitment to promoting the achievements within the insurance sector and fostering a greater understanding of its role in economic stability. She mentioned that the Fiji Sun has already initiated efforts to raise awareness about insurance through a dedicated section leading up to the event.
The Insurance Association of Fiji represents numerous companies, including notable names like BSP Life, Fiji Care, and Sun Insurance, all committed to enhancing the safety and security of the Fijian community through various insurance solutions.
The initiative reflects a broader trend within the industry to not only promote financial products but also to engage with the community creatively and educationally. Such collaborative efforts between media and industry organizations suggest a positive and promising environment for the future of insurance in Fiji, ultimately leading to better education and awareness for the public regarding its importance.
