INSPIRE Pacific, a dedicated non-profit organization in Fiji, has marked a noteworthy achievement by successfully rehabilitating 17 former street children, who are now back in school. Co-founder Ben Morrison shared this accomplishment during a recent interview, highlighting the organization’s five-year journey that began with assisting boys from juvenile detention centers and expanded to include children living on the streets and those who had ceased attending school.
Morrison pointed out the significant challenge of reintegrating children from juvenile rehabilitation programs, as many find themselves returning to street life without adequate support. Without proper intervention, these youths are at risk of being marginalized further, potentially leading to incarceration. This initiative aligns with broader movements across Fiji, as evidenced by the Ministry of Youth and Sports recently profiling 140 vulnerable individuals living on the streets of Suva.
