Court documents reveal that on February 25, 2025, the Fiji Immigration Department deported Nigerian national Alfred Ogomegbunem Mozia after he arrived at Nadi International Airport on February 19 for his wedding. Mozia was detained by immigration officials due to inaccuracies in his arrival documentation.
Following an evaluation, officials determined that Mozia did not qualify as a legitimate visitor, leading to his expeditious return on the next available flight. Although Mozia’s legal counsel sought an injunction to block the deportation, the court found that the matter was irrelevant once he was already en route back to Nigeria. Justice Vishwa Datt Sharma remarked that the lack of Mozia in Fiji’s jurisdiction hindered any further legal proceedings regarding his case.
