The talents of staff from InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva were honored at HOTEC 2024, an annual event organized by the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association. The event took place at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort, bringing together professionals from Fiji’s hospitality sector to celebrate achievements, recognize innovations, and discuss the future of tourism in the country.
This year’s exemplary performers included Hansini Gounder from InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, who claimed first place in the Barista Competition for the third time, following victories in 2017 and 2018. Her consistent success highlights her remarkable skill and dedication to the craft of coffee preparation. Another notable winner was Theodore Reyes, also from InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, who took home the title in the Bartender Competition, impressing judges with his creative use of local ingredients in his cocktail recipes.
Additionally, Anesh Anushal Goundar from the same resort was recognized as Runner-Up in the Chef Competition, where he showcased his culinary talent through dishes inspired by Fijian flavors. Other participants included Brandon Solvalu from Grand Pacific Hotel, along with Mereoni Ligadua and Malakai Kauyaca from Holiday Inn Suva, all of whom represented FNPF Owned IHG Hotels & Resorts with professionalism and enthusiasm.
Lachlan Walker, general manager of IHG Hotels & Resorts in the region, commented on the team’s achievements at HOTEC 2024, stating that they reflect IHG’s commitment to nurturing talent and contributing to the growth of the local hospitality industry.
