The talents of staff members from InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva were honored at HOTEC 2024, an annual event organized by the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association. This celebration took place at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort, bringing together professionals from Fiji’s hospitality industry to recognize achievements, innovation, and the future of tourism in the region.
Notable winners this year included Hansini Gounder from InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, who claimed first place in the Barista Competition for the third consecutive time, having previously won in 2017 and 2018. This achievement underscores her outstanding skill and passion for coffee making. Theodore Reyes, also from the same resort, triumphed in the Bartender Competition by wow-ing judges with his creative use of local ingredients in his cocktails. Additionally, Anesh Anushal Goundar from InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa earned the Runner-Up position in the Chef Competition, impressing with dishes that drew inspiration from Fijian flavors.
Brandon Solvalu from Grand Pacific Hotel and Mereoni Ligadua and Malakai Kauyaca from Holiday Inn Suva also showcased their talents, representing FNPF Owned IHG Hotels & Resorts with enthusiasm and professionalism, highlighting the strong culinary capabilities within Fiji’s hotel industry.
