Staff members from InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva were honored at HOTEC 2024, an annual event organized by the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association, which took place at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort. This prestigious gathering celebrates the successes and innovations within Fiji’s hospitality sector while looking toward the future of tourism in the region.
This year, several standout performers were recognized for their exceptional skills. Hansini Gounder from the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa won first place in the Barista Competition, a remarkable achievement that marks her third consecutive victory, having won in 2017 and 2018 as well. Her expertise in coffee making is a testament to her dedication and talent.
Theodore Reyes, also from InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, took home the top prize in the Bartender Competition. He impressed the judges with his creative use of local ingredients in his cocktail concoctions, showcasing the unique flavors of Fiji.
Anesh Anushal Goundar, from the same resort, earned the Runner-Up position in the Chef Competition, where he exhibited his culinary talent through dishes inspired by the rich flavors of Fijian cuisine.
From Grand Pacific Hotel, Brandon Solvalu participated enthusiastically, while Mereoni Ligadua and Malakai Kauyaca represented Holiday Inn Suva with professionalism. Collectively, they highlighted the exceptional talent present within the food and beverage sector of Fiji’s hotel portfolio.
