Employees from IHG hotels and resorts, owned by FNPF, have achieved remarkable success at the annual HOTEC 2024 event held in Nadi, excelling in various competitions for baristas, bartenders, and chefs. Hansini Gounder from the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa clinched the top prize in the barista competition, showcasing her extraordinary coffee-making skills. This is particularly noteworthy as she has previously won the same category in 2017 and 2018.

The bartender competition was won by Theodore Reyes, also from InterContinental, who impressed the judges with his creative cocktails using local ingredients. Additionally, Anesh Anushal Goundar from the same hotel secured the runner-up position in the chef competition, where he presented dishes inspired by traditional Fijian flavors. Their achievements were complemented by the participation of colleagues Brandon Solvalu from GPH, and Mereoni Ligadua and Malakai Kauyaca from Holiday Inn.

Lachlan Walker, the Portfolio General Manager of IHG Hotels & Resorts for FNPF Owned Hotels, praised the team’s accomplishments, highlighting IHG’s dedication to nurturing local talent and fostering the growth of the Fiji hospitality sector. He expressed pride in their achievements, which align with the company’s mission to provide exceptional guest experiences.

Walker further emphasized IHG’s commitment to supporting local businesses and sustainable practices through its daily operations. The HOTEC event served as an excellent platform for hospitality professionals to showcase their skills while exchanging ideas centered on quality, sustainability, and innovation.

This achievement not only underscores the talent present within Fiji’s hospitality industry but also reflects a hopeful future for the sector as it continues to thrive and support local talent.

In summary, the remarkable performances by IHG employees at HOTEC 2024 highlight the high standard of hospitality in Fiji and the value of investing in local talent, positioning the industry for ongoing success and innovation.
