Fiji’s Hospitality Stars Shine at HOTEC 2024

The recent HOTEC 2024 event, organized by the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association, showcased the remarkable talents of staff from the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva. This annual gathering, held at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort, unites hospitality professionals from across Fiji to celebrate their achievements and explore the future of tourism in the region.

Among the honorees, Hansini Gounder from the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa triumphed in the Barista Competition, marking her victory for the third time after previously winning in 2017 and 2018. This accomplishment underscores her exceptional skill and commitment to the craft of coffee-making.

Theodore Reyes, also from the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, won the Bartender Competition with his innovative cocktail creations that featured local ingredients, further showcasing the creativity present in Fiji’s hospitality scene. Anesh Anushal Goundar from the same resort secured the Runner-Up position in the Chef Competition, impressing judges with his dishes inspired by traditional Fijian flavors.

Other contributors to the event included Brandon Solvalu from the Grand Pacific Hotel, along with Mereoni Ligadua and Malakai Kauyaca from Holiday Inn Suva, who collectively highlighted the exceptional food and beverage talent across the FNPF-owned IHG Hotels & Resorts.

Lachlan Walker, the portfolio general manager of IHG Hotels & Resorts, remarked that the achievements of their team at HOTEC 2024 exemplify the company’s dedication to nurturing talent and fostering growth in the local hospitality industry.
