Fiji’s Hospitality Stars Shine at HOTEC 2024!

Staff members from InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva were celebrated at HOTEC 2024, an annual event organized by the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association. This year’s event took place at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort, gathering the best of Fiji’s hospitality professionals to honor achievements, innovations, and the future direction of tourism within the country.

Among the notable winners this year were Hansini Gounder from InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, who claimed first place in the Barista Competition for the third time, having previously won in 2017 and 2018. Her consistent success is a testament to her commitment to mastering the art of coffee.

Theodore Reyes, also from InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, showcased his talent by winning the Bartender Competition. His creative use of local ingredients impressed the judges and highlighted Fiji’s rich culinary possibilities.

Anesh Anushal Goundar from the same resort earned the Runner-Up position in the Chef Competition, where he presented dishes inspired by the distinctive flavors of Fiji.

Additionally, Brandon Solvalu from Grand Pacific Hotel and Mereoni Ligadua and Malakai Kauyaca from Holiday Inn Suva proudly represented FNPF Owned IHG Hotels & Resorts. Their enthusiasm and professionalism underscored the high caliber of food and beverage talent present across Fiji’s hotel sector.

Lachlan Walker, general manager of IHG Hotels & Resorts, expressed pride in the accomplishments of his team at HOTEC 2024, reinforcing IHG’s dedication to nurturing talent and contributing to the local hospitality industry’s growth.

Supported by partners including APTC, South Pacific Coffee Company, Punjas Fiji, and Fiji Gas, HOTEC provided an excellent platform for hospitality professionals to showcase their skills and exchange valuable ideas regarding quality, sustainability, and innovation.
