Fiji’s Homecoming Concert: A $1 Million Economic Hit!

Tony Whitton, managing director of Rosie Holidays Fiji, praised the organizers of the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert, noting that the two-day event brought a substantial economic boost of approximately $1 million to the local economy.

Mr. Whitton expressed his admiration for the professionalism of the event organizers, who not only attracted attendees but also welcomed visitors from Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, and Vanuatu. He highlighted the dual benefit of the concert, stating, “Not only did it provide a delight for the community, there was also a very obvious economic benefit.”

He explained that the event significantly influenced visitor numbers and generated economic activity through various support services, including VIP accommodations, stage setup, lighting, and security. He acknowledged the vision of George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso in organizing this impactful concert.

Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica echoed Mr. Whitton’s sentiments, calling the concert an inspiring and emotional “performance for the ages.” He reflected on his experience at the concert, praising Veikoso’s 90-minute performance and expressing pride in what the artist has accomplished. Mr. Kamikamica noted that the event also served as a remarkable platform to showcase the talent of the Pacific Islands to a global audience.
